COACH PROFILE – ANDREA VISSER

EMPOWERING PARENTS | COACHING ATHLETES

Playing history for Coach Andrea Visser

I have been privileged to play with many wonderful teammates across my playing career that enhanced my overall enjoyment of the game. Growing up in San Diego, I started playing in the local recreation league at age 5. I was able to gain experience at every position on the field as my playing career advanced. The positions I primarily played during college was 3rd base and left field. My playing experience included:

  • Multiple years of All Star season/team participation
  • 6 years of Club Softball team play – Purple Power 1991 16U National Championship Team
  • 2 years at Palomar College – 1993 State Championship Team
    • Awarded All State Utility Player
    • Awarded Second Team All American Utility Player
  • 2 years at Oklahoma City University – 1997 NAIA National Championship Team

I have coached softball for 7 years. Coaching experience includes:

  • Recreation League teams – TBall to 12U.
  • Head Coach – Junior High (current)
  • Head Coach – Varsity High School (current)

I have coached all positions with emphasis on:

  • Slapping
  • Hitting
  • Corner Infield
  • Outfield
  • Pitching – Entry Level
  • Catching
  • Base Running
  • Strategy and Game Preparedness

I have sought to empower my players by teaching them the strategic aspects of the game and allow them to apply those to game execution. My objective is to push each player to achieve their best, often beyond what they themselves believe they can accomplish.

I was coached by two NFCA Hall Of Fame coaches (Mark Eldridge, Palomar College & Phil McSpadden, Oklahoma City University) and learned from them to love the game, work as hard as I can for as long as I am able in order to achieve the best possible results. This may not mean victory in every instance, but a “win” can always be found if you work hard enough. I want to pass on the love of the game to my players/students. I want them to be students of the game and seek their best result that their skill level will allow.
